Android app development for businesses
We build custom Android apps for your business and publish them on Google Play. We can work with native Android code or with cross-platform technologies if you also want to reach iPhone users. Your MVP is ready in 2 months, and what we deliver carries a 1-year warranty backed by a contract.
- Is your Android app full of bugs? If you have the source code, we'll fix it and get it running properly on Google Play.
- With more than 40 apps managed for our clients, we know what it takes to keep an app live on a store.
Need more than Android?
If your project also includes iPhone or a web system, the same team can handle it.
What does building your Android app include?
A well-planned Android project doesn't end when the code compiles. It includes testing on a range of devices and a fully configured store listing. Here's what we cover:
- A clear MVP scope, designed to launch soon and grow release by release.
- Interface design with your brand identity, built on Material Design, Google's design system.
- Development with native Android code or a cross-platform approach, depending on your case.
- Testing across different screen sizes and Android versions.
- Backend, APIs and integrations, such as payments with Mercado Pago or Stripe and delivery platforms.
- Google Play Console setup, testing tracks and release.
- Weekly progress updates and meetings with the development team.
Why does the variety of Android devices matter?
Android runs on phones and tablets from many manufacturers, with very different screens, memory and OS versions. An app that looks great on a flagship phone can look cropped or feel slow on an entry-level device, which may be exactly what your customers or your field team carry.
That's why these decisions happen at the start of the project:
- The minimum Android version the app will support, based on who will use it.
- Screens that adapt to different sizes, densities and orientations.
- Testing on several devices, backed by Google Play's pre-launch report, which installs the app on real devices and flags stability, compatibility, performance and accessibility issues.
How do you publish an app on Google Play?
These are the steps to get on Google Play. Some of them, like the account, are worth starting weeks before development wraps up:
- A developer account in your company's name. Google charges a one-time $25 registration fee, and organization accounts require a D-U-N-S number to verify the business.
- Store listing and data safety. Description, screenshots, content rating, and the section that discloses what data the app collects and shares.
- Testing tracks in Google Play Console. Internal testing reaches up to 100 testers, followed by closed and open testing. Personal accounts created after November 13, 2023 need at least 12 testers opted in for 14 consecutive days before going to production; organization accounts don't have that requirement.
- Android App Bundle. Since August 2021, new apps are uploaded in this format, which lets Google Play deliver only what each device needs.
- Review and release. Google reviews the app before it goes live, and each update is uploaded to the track you choose.
Did your Android app project stall?
We review the source code, fix what's broken and get it ready for Google Play. What we deliver carries a 1-year warranty.
Which Google Play requirements must your app meet?
Google Play updates its rules often. These are the ones that affect business apps the most:
- A recent target API level. New apps and updates must target an Android version from roughly the past year; since August 31, 2026, that means API level 36. Published apps that target below API level 35 stop being available to new users on recent Android versions.
- Account deletion. If the app lets people create an account, they must be able to delete it from the app and through a web link.
- Payments. In most cases, digital features and content go through Google Play's billing system, unless an alternative billing or external offers program applies in eligible countries; physical goods and services used outside the app, such as deliveries or bookings, use other payment methods.
- Data safety. The listing must disclose what data the app collects and shares, completely and accurately.
When should you go native on Android, and when cross-platform?
For new Android apps, Google recommends starting with Kotlin, and Jetpack Compose, its toolkit for building interfaces, only works with that language. A native app makes better use of notifications, background work, the camera, Bluetooth or barcode scanning.
A cross-platform app shares most of its code with the iPhone version. It usually fits when you need both stores on a tighter budget and the app is built around forms, catalogs, bookings or lookups in your system.
Your operation depends on Android devices in the field, like the phones your sales or delivery team uses.
The app has to work offline and sync once the signal is back.
You need deep integration with hardware or with other apps on the phone.
If any of these sounds like your business, a native app is probably the better fit.
Frequently asked questions about Android app development
How long until an Android app is ready?
We build the MVP in 2 months. If the app will be published from a personal Google Play account created after November 2023, add at least 14 days of closed testing with 12 testers before production; with an organization account, that requirement doesn't apply.
How much does it cost to build an Android app?
It depends on the features, the integrations and whether you also need the iPhone version. We send a proposal after a discovery call, and payment can be a monthly retainer or financed. To publish, Google charges a one-time $25 fee for the developer account.
Does my app need to work on every Android phone?
You don't need to cover them all. We set the minimum Android version and the device types based on who will use the app, balancing reach, cost and quality.
Can you fix an Android app that keeps crashing?
Yes, as long as you have the source code. We review the errors the app is showing, fix the most serious ones first and bring it up to date with Google Play's requirements.
Can you build the iPhone version too?
Yes. We can share code between both versions or build two native apps, depending on your case. Learn more about our iOS app development for businesses.
What maintenance does a published Android app need?
Because Google raises its required API level every year, an app needs regular updates to stay available and secure. What we deliver has a 1-year warranty backed by a contract, and we can take care of updates after that.
